Expert tree care

Nelson's Urban Forest Specialist

Tree care done right — for the tree and for you.

Urban Forest Tree Care was founded on a simple belief: healthy trees and well-kept properties go hand in hand. Before recommending any work, they look at the full picture, the tree's health, its place in your landscape, and how it fits your life.

Pruning and removal are always a last resort. Their goal is to give you honest, practical advice that works for your property now, and for years to come.

Honest, Long-Term Advice

No unnecessary work. No upselling. Just expert practical guidance on what's right for your trees, and your property.

Meet Oliver Pease

I've spent 16 years in arboriculture, and it started at 15, pushing a wheelbarrow of tools down my street in South London, already hooked on the work.

College changed everything. A visit to Merrist Wood's arboriculture programme introduced me to tree climbing, and that's where my love of trees, and of being up inside their canopies really began.

After my diploma I worked across utility, rail, and residential sectors in the UK. Six years in, stories of Australia's massive eucalypts pulled me overseas. Seven years there shaped my career more than anything else: huge trees, constant work, and weekly crane operations on large removals gave me a level of skill I couldn't have built anywhere else.

Moving to New Zealand, I became Arboriculture Manager at Wellington City Council, overseeing more than 14,000 street trees, the Town Belt, and the wider green belt network. It's where my fascination with urban forestry truly took root.

What I love about urban forestry is the balance: how people and trees share space, and how good decisions let both thrive. Pruning and removal should always be a last resort. Some of my proudest moments have come from finding ways to protect trees during development, putting the right safeguards in place so they can keep standing for generations.

Now based in Nelson, I bring that same approach to urban arboriculture here, protecting and enhancing Nelson's tree population, and giving homeowners honest, long-term advice.

Every tree can benefit from a management plan. With the right care, even trees that seem risky can often be retained safely. When removal is necessary, I help clients choose the right replacement species and plan for the future.
